The L.A. Sound Project

The purpose of the "L.A. Sound Project" is to explore the lives and works of all of the musicians that were a part of the Los Angeles music scene during the 1970s. Ultimately, I plan to map how all of these people were connected (both professionally and personally) and expand my map to include as many different musical artists as possible in order to demonstrate the profound influence of this often-disdained musical "movement."

As a musician and songwriter myself, I identify with these people. The music to come out of L.A. and from the West Coast in general during the mid- to late-1970s was some of the best pop and rock in American history. Defined by extreme excesses, obsessive workmanship, and emotional discontent, the era was primed to create some of the most enduring songs and albums of all time.
